Project 13 (( Zombie Apocalypse Survival Game ))

The year is 2013. Much to many skeptics' surprise, there was indeed an event of apocalyptic nature. A mysterious virus has spread worldwide, causing the dead to rise in varying states of decomposition. The walking dead crave something they no longer have. Something to sustain them. Living flesh.

You awake in a shelter of sorts, surrounded by a small group of other people. Everyone seems to be either dead, or sleeping.

The room itself has shelves stocked with canned food and three medical kits, and sundries. In the corner stands a cabinet with a large axe, a couple Revolvers (.44 Magnum), crowbar, 12-gauge Shotgun. On a small table is an empty bottle of heavy-duty tranquilizers, and a card that reads:

In case things haven't blown by time the tranqs wear off, contact the BC Center for Disease Control.

One might assume that the assembled group had taken enough tranquilizers to knock a person out for a few weeks, as if to wait for something to pass.

Slowly, the other party members begin to awaken, everyone groggy and confused. Like a good citizen, you feel it best to introduce yourself. But ...you've forgotten who you are. It would seem that the others have forgotten exactly who they are as well. Check your wallet for your ID, that should give you an idea of who you are.

(( Choose an identity that seems to call out to you. Chances are, you'll never be sure exactly who you are, aside from name.
I have character sheets for each name, but I won't reveal your stats. Skills and professions may be revealed during the course of the game. If a character is killed, their profession and skills will be revealed then.

I've never seen a game run quite like this before, so I'm flying by the seat of my pants. Hopefully this goes well!

I'll start things off in the next post, to give you an idea of how the flow of things will go. Let's get out of this little shelter, eh? ))

I'm choosing to play as Daisy.[Yeah, yeah...no comments!]

< *Lime green will mark game-master posts* If one takes a careful look around, they might notice a sliver of light coming from a "trapdoor" in the ceiling. A ladder is propped against the wall, leading up to the door.

I'm rolling a perception check for everyone.

Daisy rolls the highest, and spots the crack of light. How do you proceed?

Everyone else, what do you do? Look for weapons, or have you got a better idea? >

Upon spotting the light, I feel my way around the walls towards the light, until I find the ladder, and proceed to climb up. I look for a way to open the door.

< Daisy, you find that the door has been locked from the inside with a padlock. You'll need a key, or something to open the door. The oxygen supply must be running low by now...better hurry! >

I tell everyone that I found a way out, but it's locked. Does anyone have a key, or some way to break it open?

< From time to time, I will send out a private message to players, giving them a tip, or piece of information to send them in the right direction. Once the game has started and people are registered on the forum, I will message someone with a little tid-bit. >

Wooziness lessening with time, one of the guys looks around for others, then shrugs to himself and starts checking all his pockets.

"My name is Chris, apparently..." he says after going through a wallet in his jeans.

Going through another pocket, he pulls out a small leather case and opens it up, taking a peek inside. "Hunh... I guess I can take a look at it, though maybe we should look for a key?"

Fighting her way back to consciousness and the panic of not really being able to feel her body, one more woman manages to regain consciousness.

"Wha....? Where am I?" she murmurs, twitching her fingers to try and bring some blood circulating painfully through her muscles again. "Wait... WHO am I?"

Reaching down to her wallet, she rifles through to her driver's license... Savannah... "Why doesn't that sound right to me...?"

Noticing the other woman struggling with the trap door, she shoves herself up onto her feet. Grabbing the crowbar and the axe from the cabinet, she drags them over to Daisy.
"Take your pick, sweetie. Looks like we're in some serious trouble here..."
With that, she makes her way over to the other bodies laying in the room, checking them for life signs.
"Wait... do I really, actually remember something about... ZOMBIES? Is that actually happening right now?"
((Hi you two. This is Brian. Gonna try my hand at a female character, because Savannah is what I planned on calling my daughter if I have one))

[Errand]

((BEHOLD! I am... me. I guess. Also, I totally just said "Coco Chanel" out loud.

But I will be playing John Samson!))

John pushed himself up with one hand, the other held to his head. He rested there for a moment, on his knees, the world spinning every time he closed his eyes, while the others spoke about him.

It turns out, John didn't seem to be doing too well, off the bat. He announced himself with a loud vomit, shuddering after the dry heaves ended, and the after effects of the tranquilizers - apparently they'd overdone it, with him - before pushing himself slowly, unsteadily, to his feet.

He stared around, not saying anything yet, blinking blearily at everyone as they bustled about.

"Easy there big guy. Wait till we crack a window or something before pouring your intestines all over the place."

Savannah quickly moves over to the staggering vomit sprinkler, warily avoiding any contact with the contents of his stomach and holding her breath.

"You aren't feeling too zombie-like, I hope..."

With a bit of a grimace of embarrassment, she notices that she's still gripping the handle of the axe, pulling it behind her. So much for leaving Daisy with a choice.

Daisy gagged at the sound of the retching, and barf splattering.

"Oh...that's just...lovely."

With a sigh, she took the crowbar from Savannah. "Thanks, hun. This should do the trick!"

As she began jabbing away at the lock with the crowbar, she chined into the conversation.

"I do seem to recall something about "zombies"....Some sorta science experiment gone wrong. I think the CDC was involved some how...or at least, they should know something about it, right? That's usually how it goes, isn't it? Ha..haha...This is sounding like some sort of cheezy horror flick." She prattled off in nervous, verging on crazy laughter.


I'm making a strength roll with crowbar (2 dice) resulting in one success.

The lock eventually gives way, cracking just enough that I can pry it from the door.

With a good heave, the trap door flips up, and open, hitting the ground above with a solid thud.

"Freedom!" Daisy cheers, and eagerly takes a few gulps of 'fresh' air.


The area outside of the shelter would appear to be the lobby of a shoddy apartment building. The main doors, and any windows have been boarded up. A few rays of sunlight do manage to make their way through the cracks though, enough to sufficiantly light the room.

Upon seeing and smelling the bile filled puke, he makes his way to the cabinet, picking up the shotgun and looking for ammo nearby.

"I don't think I wanna go out there, at least not til we're all up and armed... So does anyone remember anything? Anything at all?"

“ all armed?” a husky voice repeated almost inaudibly. A rustling noise came from a corner and a momentarily non-descript form rose with a small whimper similar to that of an injured animal. Stepping closer a young female comes into view. Her face almost gaunt, her eyes huge and hungry yet also portraying an immense weariness. “Coco…”,she whispers,” I am Coco Shanelle…spare me the jokes, please. My mother was a slave to fashion, among other things.” Her lips momentarily seem to form a mocking smile before she sets her face into a neutral mask again, mustering the small group before her.
Running a slender hand through her short cropped bright copper hair she seems to be confused as if trying to remember events. “ I am not quite sure what happened.” Looking at the man and the vomit in front of him, she recoils,” maybe it was some form of virus. Maybe we should not all be armed.” She shrugs almost nonchalantly,” just saying…….”

"Well I think Coco's an awesome name. Who doesn't like chocolate?" Savannah smiles, trying to let her 'southern hospitality mode' deaden the possibility of Coco taking that as the joke that she had just requested nobody make. Then she frowned slightly, realizing that she couldn't remember just why she knew she had such a mode.
Savannah didn't dress in daisy dukes or anything; quite the contrary, she was very cosmo in what she wore. At the moment it was business casual... implying that she hadn't necessarily been planning for a week long hibernation. Her hair style, however, was a definite nod to the southern dame, her red hair spilling down past her shoulders in curly waves.
"If it's alright with all y'all, I'm going to take something a little lighter than this axe.... Anybody want it?" She rests it against an empty bed, goes to the shelf and picks out a revolver, and makes her way carefully to the trap door, taking a deep breath of fresh air and looking around.

Savannah finds no real life signs from the others, but they certainly don't look dead. Comatose, perhaps. They won't be getting up anytime soon. (Result of a 3-dice roll, one success)

Thinking it would be a good idea to get out of the building all together, Daisy then begins to try and pry the boards from one of the windows to get a better look outside.

Two dice roll for the crowbar, no successes.

Evidently, prying off the boards is a lot more difficult than the lock. After a few feeble attempts, Daisy throws the crowbar to the ground in a grunt of frustration and paces about, sulking.

Despite the building be a mass residential tower, the elevator and corridor leading up to the stairs have also been boarded up. Could it be to keep things in, or keep things out? From this point, you can either chose to leave the building, and head outside, or investigate the boarded off apartments.

"OOoooo, you know what would be RICH? If we switched around the ID of all the folks still sleeping, but remembered who's ID was whose first!" She calls down from the trapdoor, the opening framing the impish grin on her face. The grin quickly fades to a pensive frown, though.

"Hmmm, guys, a thought just occurred to me. If that zombie disease thing had been floating around in the air out here before now, any of the bodies that are now sitting in that room could be getting all zombified right now. Some of those sleepy heads might still be alive, but some of them might be coming back as unfriendlies... Do we have anything to tie the bodies down until others wake up?"

Coco looks at the redhead and raises her left eyebrow," sure, hon, why don't we switch all IDs and while we are at it we can play musical chairs and guess each other's favorite colors." He voice was dripping with sarcasm. Then in a more softer tone she added," I think we have enough confusion already, we don't need to add to it and maybe create chaos. However, the tying down thing has something to it. We might want to take turns checking on people here in case we can add some to our little tribe." She took a few long strides over to the window," let me have a try, please" she grinned at Daisy, bent to pick up the crow bar and took a few good placed swings at the boards. One would have never guessed that there was such a force behind those skinny arms. After a short time, two boards came loose and flew to the ground." Here we are, let's see what's outside." Coco peered out the window and looked into the seemingly empty street, here and there a body was slumped against a streetlight, a car was half way on the sidewalk, the driver's body bend lifelessly over the steering wheel. The scene was eerily quiet if not to say deadly quiet. On impulse Coco wanted to screaam "hello" but something inside her warned her against it. " We need to investigate if there are more healthy people out here, there is strength in numbers as we all know. However, first things first. I am starving and, " she looked down at her high heels and her torn black mini skirt," I need some more sturdy threads and yes we do need weapons. So where is the closest shopping mall?" She smiled a bit wistfully remembering trips to the mall of years gone by, wondering if that carefree time would ever come again. " Who's in for some exploring?" She looks around at the few people in the now daylight filled room," please, guys...."she adds in a small voice.

(( As a heads up, Guys and Gals, this is sort of a different style of role play than we would normally do. This is formatted after Dungeons & Dragons type role play (more Specifically, World of Darkness). This game relies on me as your Game Master to guide you in the right directions, and let you know if you are successful in your ventures.

Things like using objects - I need to let you know if you were successful, if you failed, or something else. That would be a good time to end your post, after trying to use, or craft something.

What's around you? That's up to me to let you know of your surroundings.

On a side note, you're free to develop the apprearance of your character a little, but please remember that I do have hidden character sheets for everyone. These include vital stats that help determine your successes, your profession, which also influences your stats, and to some extent, your appearance. If you would like to learn more about your character, PM me with any questions, and I will answer what I feel is appropriate to know. I may also from time to time reveal traits of your character either by PM, or in game.

That being said, if you have any questions in regards to gameplay or anything else, please don't hesitate to give me a poke! I want this to be fun for everyone. I'm sorry if I didn't make this clear enough in the introduction. ))





Savannah checks the others, still unconscious. They do have a pulse, but are seriously out cold. They don't appear to be in any danger of turning into...whatever is rampaging. It may be a bad idea to tie them down, just in case the awakened group leaves, and they wake up some time after. Mm mm, nothing like waking up in a strange room, tied up.


I'm making a perception check for Coco, which results in one success of three dice.

Coco Shanelle looks through the gap she'd cleared, giving her about a six inch gap to peer through. From what she can tell, the coast does seem to be clear, albeit in quite a state of disarray.

Daisy takes a turn peering out the gap, taking in the limited view of the surroundings.

Perception check for Daisy - one out of successes.
Daisy can just barely spot the tracks of the Skytrain, an above-ground type of "subway".


Getting her bearings, she nods, "I think I know where we are...and the shopping mall would be...maybe a ten minute walk from here. It looks pretty safe outside to me..."

She looked to the others, "So, Coco wants to hit the mall...Maybe we can find some supplies there. Or, we can make a bee-Line to the CDC...that card seems to indicate pretty heavily that we should go there. It could be safe. Or, we can try and find out what's on the other side of these boards..."

Daisy walked over to the boarded elevator, giving it a cautious nudge with her high-heel'd foot.
